Understanding Your Options

Considering Lasik?
Here's what you need to know

  • Preoperative
    Precautions

  • During Surgery
    Precautions

  • Postoperative
    Precautions

1) Comprehensive Eye Examination:
•Before undergoing laser eye surgery, you will undergo a thorough eye examination to assess your eye health and determine your candidacy for the procedure. This evaluation will include measurements of your corneal thickness, pupil size, refractive errors, and overall eye health.
•Diagnostic tests such as corneal topography, wavefront analysis, and pachymetry will be performed to assess the overall health of your eyes and suitability for surgery.

2) Medical History Review:
•It's essential to provide your surgeon with a detailed medical history, including any past eye conditions, surgeries, allergies, medications, and systemic health issues.
•Certain medical conditions or medications may affect your suitability for laser eye surgery.

3) Contact Lens Usage:
•Discontinue soft contact lens wear at least one week before your initial consultation and two weeks before surgery.
•If you wear rigid gas permeable (RGP) or hard contact lenses, you may need to stop wearing them for a longer period before your consultation and surgery, as advised by your ophthalmologist.

4) Eye Health Maintenance:
•Maintain good eye hygiene by avoiding eye makeup, lotions, and creams around the eyes on the day of surgery.
•Protect your eyes from trauma and injury in the days leading up to surgery.

process

•You'll be comfortably positioned and given anesthetic eye drops.

•The entire procedure is usually very quick, often under 15 minutes per eye.

•Our advanced laser technologies enable precise and accurate treatment tailored to your unique visual needs. Your surgeon will utilize state-of-the-art equipment to reshape your cornea with utmost precision, ensuring optimal visual outcomes.

•Follow the guidance of the surgical team throughout the procedure.

•Remain calm and cooperative during the surgery, as patient cooperation is essential for optimal outcomes.

process

•You may experience temporary blurry vision, light sensitivity, and mild discomfort.

•Use prescribed eye drops as directed by your surgeon to prevent infection and promote healing.

•Avoid rubbing or touching your eyes, as this can dislodge the corneal flap (in LASIK and Femto LASIK) or interfere with the healing process.

•Protect your eyes from exposure to sunlight, wind, dust, and other irritants by wearing sunglasses or protective eyewear outdoors.

You'll be able to see after surgery, but your vision won't be clear right away. Vision after laser vision correction is generally good within a few days, your chances for improved vision are based, in part, on how good your vision was before surgery.

You'll have a follow-up appointment with your eye doctor 1 to 2 days after surgery. This is to see how your eye is healing and check for any complications.

It might be a few weeks before you can start to use cosmetics around your eyes again. You also might have to wait several weeks before resuming strenuous contact sports, swimming or using hot tubs. Follow your doctor's recommendations about how soon you can resume your usual activities.
