Advanced Laser Vision Correction
at Watany Eye Hospitals

Welcome to Watany Eye Hospitals, a world-renowned eye care center offering advanced laser vision correction procedures alongside the benefits of medical tourism. We understand the desire for freedom from glasses and contacts, and we're here to help you achieve it.

This guide explores LASIK, Femto LASIK, Femto SMILE (ReLEx SMILE), and PRK — outlining what to expect before surgery, during the procedure, and throughout your recovery.

Understanding Your Options

Each procedure uses laser technology to reshape the cornea and correct your vision. Your surgeon will recommend the best fit based on your corneal thickness, prescription, and lifestyle.

LASIK
Laser-Assisted In-Situ Keratomileusis
The gold standard in refractive surgery

A widely trusted procedure that creates a thin corneal flap using a microkeratome or femtosecond laser. The underlying corneal tissue is reshaped with an excimer laser to correct vision — delivering rapid recovery and outstanding clarity.

Femto
LASIK
Femtosecond Laser-Assisted LASIK
Advanced LASIK with superior precision

An advanced variation of LASIK that uses a femtosecond laser instead of a traditional microkeratome blade to create the corneal flap. This offers increased precision, customization, potentially better visual outcomes, and faster recovery times.

SMILE
Small Incision Lenticule Extraction
Minimally invasive — ideal for thin corneas

Femto SMILE (ReLEx SMILE) corrects vision by creating a small incision in the cornea through which a lenticule — a tiny, disc-shaped piece of tissue — is removed. No flap is created, making it an excellent option for patients with thin corneas or active lifestyles.

PRK
Photorefractive Keratectomy
Flap-free laser correction

PRK reshapes the cornea to correct refractive errors without creating a corneal flap. Instead, the outer epithelial layer is gently removed before laser treatment. PRK is recommended for patients with thin corneas or those who are not ideal LASIK candidates.

Important Note Before You Proceed

Before undergoing any refractive surgery procedure, it's crucial for patients to understand and adhere to certain precautions. These precautions help ensure the best possible outcomes and minimize the risk of complications. Your surgeon will walk you through everything during your consultation.

Considering Laser Surgery?
Here's What You Need to Know

We walk you through every stage of your journey — from your first consultation to full recovery — so you feel informed, confident, and prepared.

Comprehensive Eye Examination

A thorough evaluation assesses your candidacy for laser surgery, including corneal thickness, pupil size, refractive errors, and overall eye health. Diagnostic tests such as corneal topography, wavefront analysis, and pachymetry are performed to confirm suitability.

Medical History Review

Provide your surgeon with a detailed medical history — including past eye conditions, surgeries, allergies, medications, and any systemic health issues. Certain medical conditions or medications may affect your suitability for the procedure.

Contact Lens Discontinuation
  • Discontinue soft contact lens wear at least one week before your initial consultation and two weeks before surgery.
  • If you wear rigid gas permeable (RGP) or hard lenses, you may need to stop wearing them for a longer period as advised by your ophthalmologist.
Eye Health Maintenance
  • Avoid eye makeup, lotions, and creams around the eyes on the day of surgery to maintain good hygiene.
  • Protect your eyes from trauma and injury in the days leading up to the procedure.
Comfortable Preparation

You'll be comfortably positioned and given anesthetic eye drops to numb the eye completely. The procedure is pain-free and you'll remain awake but relaxed throughout.

Quick Procedure

The entire procedure is typically very quick — often under 15 minutes per eye. Most patients are surprised by how fast it goes and how comfortable they feel during treatment.

Precision Laser Technology

Our advanced laser systems enable precise, accurate treatment tailored to your unique visual profile. Your surgeon utilizes state-of-the-art equipment to reshape your cornea with utmost accuracy, ensuring optimal visual outcomes.

Your Role During Surgery

Follow the guidance of the surgical team throughout the procedure and remain calm and cooperative. Patient cooperation is a key factor in achieving the best possible visual outcome.

Prescribed Eye Drops

Use your prescribed eye drops exactly as directed by your surgeon to prevent infection, reduce inflammation, and promote proper healing of the corneal tissue.

Avoid Touching Your Eyes

Do not rub or touch your eyes, as this can dislodge the corneal flap in LASIK and Femto LASIK, or interfere with the healing process in SMILE and PRK.

Protect from Environment

Shield your eyes from sunlight, wind, dust, and other irritants by wearing the provided sunglasses or protective eyewear whenever you're outdoors during the recovery period.

Follow-up Appointments

You'll have a follow-up appointment 1 to 2 days after surgery to assess healing and check for any complications. Regular follow-ups are essential for monitoring your recovery and vision progress.

What to Expect After Surgery You may experience temporary blurry vision, light sensitivity, and mild discomfort — this is completely normal. Vision after laser correction is generally good within a few days, and your final result depends in part on your prescription before surgery. It may be a few weeks before you can use cosmetics around your eyes again, and several weeks before resuming strenuous contact sports, swimming, or hot tubs. Always follow your doctor's recommendations.
