Watany Eye Hospitals built its reputation on world-class clinical care, then went further, establishing one of the first accredited private ophthalmic medical education centers in Egypt. The Watany Research and Development Center (WRDC) works alongside the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology in Egypt to carry that mission forward.

Over more than a decade, the center's research has appeared in leading scientific journals and carried Egyptian researchers to conferences worldwide. Its training division runs standardized surgical and clinical courses and wet labs for residents and fellows inside the Watany research and educational lounge.

Monthly scientific meetings bring difficult cases to the table, while the annual Watany Ophthalmology Summit (WOS) draws hundreds of international speakers, ranking among the region's most attended ophthalmic conferences. Live surgery, broadcast directly from Watany operating rooms, has reached audiences in Italy, the UAE, and Egypt.
