Glaucoma

Glaucoma

Glaucoma is an eye condition where the optic nerve, which connects the eye to the brain, becomes damaged due to increased pressure in the eyes.

This causes gradual vision loss and in the early stages, the symptoms may not be felt by the patient until significant damage has occurred, thus, regular check-ups are essential to detect glaucoma early.

At Watany Eye Hospitals, we offer many modern and accurate devices for measuring intraocular pressure. The measurements are done for all patients with devices that rely on non-touching technology for early disease detection.

• Glaucoma is not reversible; however, early detection can prevent further damage.

• Glaucoma is treated by decreasing your eye pressure using laser, surgery, or medication depending on your condition.

• Treatment options may include prescription eye drops, oral medications, laser treatment, surgery, or a combination of any of these.

• Loss of peripheral or side vision

• Redness in the eye

• Pain in the eye and the head
