Strabismus or more commonly known as squints is where the eyes point in different directions. Squints are more common in children, but it is prone to happen at any age.
Medical intervention is usually needed to correct squints because it is very unlikely for the condition to improve on its own and it can lead to further problems if it is not treated at an early stage.
• The child has a squint all the time.
• The child is older than 3 months and has a squint that comes and goes
• You develop a squint or double vision later in life
• Strabismus operations are not a substitute for glasses, but repair the rest of the strabismus that the glasses have not been able to repair.
• There are cases of strabismus that require a combination of the use of glasses and surgery.
