Neonatal Retina

Neonatal Retina

Retinopathy of prematurity is an eye disorder occurring in premature infants due to abnormal growth of blood vessels in the light-sensitive part of the eye.

• Retinopathy of prematurity can be resolved without treatment, without permanent damage, although advanced retinopathy of maturity can cause permanent vision problems.

• Laser therapy is the most standard treatment of ROP.

• Cryotherapy is also a possible treatment for ROP although laser therapy is generally better.
